A little bit about Rome: how to spill the blood in the Coliseum

Acquaintance with Italy began from the city to which lead all the roads.

What is Rome like? What he breathes with? What is inside? – Only devil knows. For 3 days being there we didn’t manage to talk to him in private though we were able to visit all the main intact / a bit warped / dilapidated / lying in ruins / razed to the ground buildings.

And what can be said on the whole...

Rome is monumental — every fountain, every statue just standing on the street will be a half to two times more than the person contemplating it. And not to mention even bigger buildings when one needs to throw his head back so that to see the top of the structure which appears to be a melting fuzzy spot in the midday glow...Churches are grand... But the main ruins luckily washed from the blood long ago are of course just out of the competition. And while standing in the cool shadow of the Coliseum in the queue to the entrance trying to ignore the swarming tourists everywhere, somewhere in the middle of the road in the whining among the columns wind you hear loud brutal crowd howl and feel how people and animals die for the satisfaction of the beasts... How beautiful the building is and how ugly was its aim...

And Rome is also small streets; is accordion player persistently begging the coin for his unobtrusive musical accompaniment during dinner; is when marble horses have faces; is when cars go without stopping and pedestrians run when possible; is cool Pantheon where you can take a 15 minutes nap and gain strength; is when the city did not rise with skyscrapers but with domes of churches; is the most delicious ice cream in the world ...

But it still was not enough...

Have a good day, MarrySav!)
